Regis Murphy This album is loaded with talent! Of course there's terrific guitar work by Scott Newell, and all the players are excellent.
I enjoy the wholeness of the album and like how the different songs work together while having stylistic differences. Really good songcrafting. Superb listening! Favorite track: Some Kid's Dad.

about

This is the music in my head. Mostly. I mean, you know, that's the hardest thing, getting it from here to there. I hope the vibe of each track takes you somewhere.

I took a very focused approach to the writing for this album, keeping the arrangements tight, hopefully full of melodic content and ear candy out the wazoo thanks to all the great tracks the musicians put such great performances into.

I created this album in my home studio in Charlotte, NC, writing, demo'ing, then sending each track around to the musicians who laid down their parts, sent them back to me, then mixing them in, track-by-track. I accomplished it without any outboard gear during mixing.

Scott Newell Charlotte, North Carolina

Scott Newell started his musical life learning trumpet, and was drawn to the guitar in the golden age of electric guitar heroes. Scott grew up under a broad influence of 70's and 80's rock, funk, soul, disco and pop music. In his 20's he fell under the spell of Miles Davis and all the connections that spring from the Miles legacy. Scott’s first release as a solo artist is available on 3/27/20. ... more
